What is Main Scheme? How does Main Scheme differ to other projects and programmes run by BRDB?

Main Scheme is the core rural development programme run within BRDB. It differs to the other projects and programmes because it is continually running and has no completion date. For more information about Main Scheme please see projects page.

What is an Upazila?

An Upazila is the term used within Bangladesh to describe a sub-district, Upazila's are small regional administration centres that are smaller than districts and contain many villages. BRDB operates in 476 of the 481 Upazilas within Bangladesh.

How much money is a Lakh?

Lakh and Crore are numerical units used within South Asia. A Lakh is equivalent to 100,000 and a Crore is equivalent to 10,000,000. One Lakh Taka is worth approximately $US1,450.
