Resource Availability

The library plays an important role in ensuring that the BRDB remains the leading government organisation engaged in rural development and poverty reduction. Through its partnerships with educational institutions, research centres, other Government Departments and NGOs, it maintains access to a comprehensive range of resources.

Within the library primary, secondary and tertiary sources of information can be found, covering topics ranging from rural development and cooperatives to management techniques to economics. The library endeavours to ensure that all its resources are up to date and cater to the wide-ranging requirements of patrons.

The library can also request resources from one of its many exchange partners, if it is unable to fulfil the requirements of a patron through its own catalogue. Exchange programs are seen as an invaluable service to patrons, and as such the library always seeks to develop its reciprocal borrowing agreements.

As well as stocking many externally published titles, the library is also the central location for BRDB publications. Patrons wishing to read past and present annual reports, white papers, statistical booklets and in-house research papers can do so at the library.

Borrowing Policy

All BRDB staff are entitled to borrow library resources. Members of the public are encouraged to read any library publications within the confines of the allocated reading space.

Anyone wishing to make photocopies of publications can do so after the librarian has granted permission. The library encourages researchers, university lecturers, students, government officials, NGO-workers, or any other interested parties to visit the library and peruse the comprehensive catalogue.
